Young Adult

City of a Thousand Tears by Pamela Hart

City of a Thousand Tears

This is a quick young adult read a little outside of my usual fantasy genre. While it does have some references to mystical warriors, the overall setting gave more of a cyberpunk feel full of fun gadgets in a futuristic urban setting without getting too gritty. The main character, Ellio, is utterly adorable. Even though he looks like an average underdog, his kindness and courage (and love for sugary cereal) make him a likeable, sympathetic, and relatable hero and show that there’s more to him than meets the eye. Coupled with a fierce warrior heroine who just wants to break free from an oppressive life, this sweet story delivered both excitement and warm fuzzies.
